I began my journey in the world of web after completion of Graduate Diploma in Multimedia at Auckland University Of Technology in Auckland , New Zealand. I learnt the nitty-gritty of programming in New Zealand which gave me many opportunities to brush up my skills. After 5 long years and many projects old, I decided to move my base to Vancouver, Canada in (May,2006) to widen my horizon as a freelancer.
Below is a quick synopsis of my voyage into the virtual world of graphics and media.
It all began from Broadcast New Zealand where I worked as an Assistant Editor and got my fingers on professional editing softwares like Avid Express Pro and Avid Media Composer since it was a video production house involved in the production of television Serials and Documentaries on social and anthropological issues. I learnt different editing and motion graphics techniques from there and catered to clients like Livingstone Production and helped them with their last 20 episodes of 6 years old popular serial “Queer Nation”. My next job was as a Flash Programmer for ID Limited that needed programming with ActionScript for embryo tv for promoting NZ Regional TV Stations on the web. I also incorporated access database to automatically upload and download videos.
My next move was a job as a Director of Lingo Programmer & interface Designer that involved development of non-linear presentation softwares from the scratch. My brain child was a seamless, non-linear presentation software which integrated video, powerpoint, word, excel, pdf and flash in one presentation environment. As a designer of the product I worked closely with the clients giving special attention to branding their corporate identities. My next leap was working on a contract with Automobile Association of New Zealand . I worked mainly on a flash application on New Zealand maps, exporting data from a database externally that could be magnified and had the capability to be zoomed into different sections.
In Canada , my first job was with Standard Marketing and Graphics as Web Developer/Designer. I mainly worked in PHP and MySQL scripting, Javascript, ActionScript 2, AJAX and video encoding. My major accomplishment was developing a website for the Strata Council that gave the strata members ability to post notices, emails about complaints and suggestions, checking minutes and past minutes and bi-laws. I was also involved with many shopping carts using open source PHP and MySQL during this period of my career.
At present I am a freelancer graphic, web designer and developer in Canada specializing in PHP Programming, MySQL Databases, Web2 applications, Web Videos, Custom CD Rom Presentations, Search Engine Optimizations (SEO), XHTML and CSS, Flash Action script 2 & 3. I have expanded my expertise to Online marketing, Search Engine Optimizations (SEO ), keyword marketing, digital marketing strategy, flash banner ad creation, site analytics.
When I am not working on a project you will often find me fiddling with video and photography of nature and natural resources and everything mother earth has to offer us. My aim in life is to capture each and every beautiful and amazing things and moments in the universe through video or still photography. As a future project, I want to start a blog for technical tips with the latest news from the continent.
