Hi, this is Saurav Purkayastha. You are in my website which reflects my personal and professional world. This site contains my past, my present and my aspirations for the future. I have worked with many applications. However my area of specialization are PHP and MySQL, Flash ActionScript 1 & 2, Xhtml and CSS (table less design for website), Web 2 Applications, Web Videos, Custom CDRom Presentation etc.
Saurav is a freelance graphic and web designer and web developer in Vancouver, BC, Canada specialized in PHP Programming, MySQL Databases, Web2 applications, Web Videos, Custom CD Rom Presentations, Search Engine Optimizations (SEO), XHTML and CSS, Flash Actionscript 2 & 3.
I have gained expertise in Web2 and open source application involving PHP & MySQL. Actively participated in the development of software for Strata Council based on PHP & MySql. Also built Flash application based on Actionscript2 and customized flash video player. Moreover I got familarized in customization of open source shopping cart software like OSCommerce, Open Cart etc and also in doing tableless web design involving CSS and XHTML.
Over the years I have been actively involved in the development of non-linear presentation software integrating Video, MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Pdf and Flash in one seamless presentation environment. I also regularly consult with clients to establish overall look and feel, graphics elements and contents of communication materials in order to meet their corporate branding. Also developed graphic elements that met their objectives. Regularly designed DVD covers to be delivered to clients.
I have extensive experience on professional editing softwares like Avid Express Pro and Avid Media Composer while working as "Assistant Editor". Familiar with offline and online digitizing process, conducted tape duplication process (dubbing) from one format to another. Also have hand on knowledge and experience on patching of deck to facilitate communication between the Avid software and the deck and vice versa. Worked with machines like Betacamsp, Digibeta, DVCam and VHS. Helped clients whenever possible with troubleshooting to solve technical and edit problems.

Personal World
Besides being a web nerd I have other interests like Photography (mainly nature and portraits oriented), Videography, Games like cricket,tennis and reading technological news, practising meditation and yoga. I am a proud owner of two video cameras ----- Sony HDR-FX7 (High Definition compatible video camera) and Panasonic NVGS 400 with 3CCD crystalline engine (Mini DV compatible) and one still camera --- Nikon D80.
When not at work I keep myself busy with Animal Planet, Discovery and National Geographic channel. My secret dream is to make a documentary of the same sort. Soon I will be putting my video work in the portfolio section in the form of streaming video.
